Nous appelons la population du Québec, unie avec le Canada, à se tenir forte contre l’ombre menaçante du fascisme, et protester pour la paix, la souveraineté, la démocratie et les droits de tous et toutes. Cet acte de protestation servira de cri de ralliement pour la liberté, inspiré par les paroles de l’ancien premier Ministre John Diefenbaker:
«Je suis Canadien(ne), libre de m’exprimer sans crainte, libre de pratiquer ma foi à ma façon, libre de défendre ce que je crois juste, libre de m’opposer à ce que je crois injuste, et libre de choisir les dirigeants de mon pays. Je m’engage à préserver ce patrimoine de liberté pour moi-même et pour toute l’humanité.»
Le Canada est depuis longtemps un symbole d’espoir pour la démocratie et la liberté des personnes persécutées dans leur pays d’origine. Nous sommes maintenant appelés à nous unir à nouveau au nom de l’égalité, de la justice et des droits de la personne. Cette manifestation met l’accent sur l’action collective contre l’autoritarisme et réaffirme les valeurs communes du peuple canadien
Les participants sont invités à se rassembler sous la bannière de ces valeurs communes, démontrant ainsi que l’engagement du Canada envers la liberté demeure inébranlable.

I love the “pledge”. It brings tears to my eyes. If only it applied to America as well. It could, it should, and most people including Donald Trump would say it does. But they don’t recognize what is happening right in front of their eyes.

I am sorry, on behalf of the USA, and understand why you’re doing this. Im just shocked to be here in a country where it should be us doing this sort of demonstration outside some other country’s embassy—we are the same people as your former PM describes—or we were such a people. Or we believed ourselves to be on this same noble path—the inventors of it, we thought. Too ,any are just hoping to wake up & the madness will have gone away… which isn’t the way it can. I pray there is a way back from this precipice for us & that we will once again be the good neighbor and ally that on e sent glass to Nova Scotia, and until this past Christmas gratefully received a generous gift of a christmas tree for display in Boston. My grandparents had a little cottage in Hunts Point where they summered away from the south New Jersey heat. My parents inherited it and used it as well. Then they sold it before my dad died, early in trump’s first presidency. Im so glad he, and now my mother, aren’t alive to see how far we have fallen…

My wife and I will be participating here in Ottawa as we are very concerned about the slide of the USA into a dictatorship and fascism. We do not support even the mention of annexation of any country in the world, much less our own.

I tweeted something and got two likes. I’d like to know if you’ve had any success in generating public enthusiasm.
Hi Peter, we don’t use twitter, but we are having a great response across our other platforms (bluesky, facebook and discord) as well as Reddit. There was an article in the Daily Hive last week as well. We are working in Ottawa with the same team that gathers at the Russian Embassy every Wednesday and we expect to see a great turn out in Ottawa. Thank you for your support!
